Manchester welcomes the World Adventure Golf Tour for a landmark competition
Manchester witnessed a thrilling display of skill, precision and patience as the city hosted its first-ever World Adventure Golf Masters competition on Saturday 12th October at Dino Falls Adventure Golf, located within Trafford Golf Centre.
The event, a part of the prestigious World MiniGolf Federation’s (WMF) Adventure Golf Tour, drew professional and amateur players from across the globe, with participants competing for cash prizes, trophies and a coveted spot in the World Adventure Golf Tour Final.
The event brought together 30 players, including 20 professional players from as far as Minneapolis (USA), Germany, Cornwall and Norwich. After four intense rounds on Dino Falls' Rapids Course, the competition culminated in a dramatic finish, with Chris Randell from Somerset emerging as the overall champion, taking home the £500 cash prize and securing automatic entry into the World Adventure Golf Tour Final in Portugal in May 2025.
In addition to the professional competition, the event saw enthusiastic participation from rookies and juniors, with Richard Benvenisti from East Sussex winning the Rookie Cup and a £200 prize, while Finn McPherson from Gloucester claimed the Junior Trophy and a set of Callaway junior clubs. Local lad Gary Combs from Stalybridge came second place in the Rookie category, flying the flag for the local players.
Pete Styles, Director of Golf at Trafford Golf Centre, expressed his pride in hosting the event: “To see so many talented players from seasoned pros to up-and-coming juniors - competing at Dino Falls has been incredible. This event highlights adventure golf as a sport of skill and focus with global appeal. We’re pleased to have put Manchester on the competitive mini golf map!"
Event organiser and competitive mini golf player Richard Jones echoed this sentiment, adding: "It was a pleasure to be involved in organising the first major adventure golf competition that’s been held in the North West for some time. The Dino Falls course gave the experienced players a real test of their putting ability and it was great that local players had the opportunity to show they could be competitive too."
The event was supported by sponsors Concrete Links Co, who contributed £250 towards the prize fund and hosted a stall showcasing their ‘Golf Adjacent Street Style’ apparel, and Sphere UK, the official print partner for the event.
